The Development History Of The Domestic Market Of The PCB Industry

In the past ten years, the global PCB has continued to move to Asia, especially mainland China, which has rapidly developed into a major producer of electronic products and PCBs. Due to the market potential of domestic demand and the advantages of manufacturing, the PCB industry in mainland China has grown several times in just a few years, attracting the influx of foreign capital.

At present, in addition to the world's leading position in output value and sales, my country's PCB industry also has the following four simple characteristics:

Product application and market expansion. PCB is an important interconnect for electronic devices and is required to configure any electronic device. Especially the data processing and communication equipment in the current electronic informatization have higher and higher requirements for PCB.

Expansion of industry scope. The printed circuit industry has shifted from mere one-piece circuit board processing to electronic circuit components, including electronic circuit component assembly and electronic manufacturing services (EMS). Manufacturers in the printing industry can provide electronic assembly services according to customer requirements.

Continuously improve product quality. At present, ordinary PCBs are still suitable for general electronic equipment, and the new generation of electronic equipment requires higher density circuit boards, which are suitable for the requirements of multi-function, miniaturization and light weight of the whole machine. The main purpose of this research is to develop multilayer boards, flexible boards and high-density interconnects for flexible board (HDI/BUM) substrates and IC packages (BGA, CSP).

The product process is further improved. For the processing of high-density circuit boards, new process technologies need to be adopted in drawing, hole processing, coating, testing, etc. Blind/buried vias and build-up methods will generally be used. Develop new materials suitable for HDI/BUM boards and IC packaging substrates, which have good performance in electrical and mechanical aspects, and will introduce a large number of laser and optoelectronic automation equipment.

Since 2000, various types of PCBs have developed greatly, among which the development speed of multi-layer boards, high HDI boards and flexible boards has exceeded the industry average, and the development speed of single-board and double-board is relatively stable.

In 2013, the PCB output value in mainland China reached 22.559 billion US dollars, accounting for 41.1 percent of the global PCB output value. From 2008 to 2013, the compound annual growth rate of China's total PCB production reached 9.4 percent , higher than the global growth rate.

In 2013, the scale of my country's PCB industry was about 1,500, mainly concentrated in the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta and the Bohai Rim. In the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions, PCB production accounts for about 90 percent of the GDP of mainland China, and the PCB production capacity in the central and western regions has also grown rapidly in recent years.

The domestic printed circuit board industry also presents a fragmented competition pattern. Enterprises are generally miniaturized, and there are relatively few large PCB enterprises. According to CPCA data, there were about 1,500 PCB companies in China in 2013, mainly located in the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Bohai Rim. In 2013, there were 50 major enterprises and super-large enterprises, accounting for about 3.3 percent of the total number of PCB enterprises in mainland China.

Based on the statistics and measurement of CPCA, the total sales revenue of my country's PCB is that in 2012, the comprehensive sales of China's top 100 PCB companies accounted for 57 percent of the country's total PCB sales; the top 10 PCB sales accounted for 36.17 percent of China's total PCB sales. ; The top 10 PCB sales revenue accounted for 23.94 percent in total, and the company's market share was the highest, accounting for 3.86 percent . Similar to the development pattern of the world's PCB industry, China's PCB industry is relatively competitive, and there is no oligopoly, and this trend will continue for a long time in the future.
